J. Michael Carrillo
Charles R. Tibbels
Charles R. Tibbels (Charlie) handles a variety of legal matters including criminal defense, general civil matters, probate, and range of company/corporate issues.
Charlie has practiced law in Wise County since 2012. Before law school, Charlie was the Chief Information Officer for a Wise County based healthcare company where he served as the Privacy and Security Officer during the HIPAA implementation of the early 2000's. After several years in the business world, Charlie and his family decided the time was right for him to attend law school.
During law school, Charlie spent his summers interning for his now partner, Mike Carrillo. They became partners January 1, 2013, and have enjoyed a growing firm that handles a variety of legal matters.
Charlie is a graduate of Decatur High School ('88), the University of North Texas ('02), and Texas Wesleyan University School of Law ('12) (now known as Texas A&M School of Law). Charlie also spent a few years at Texas Tech University where he played trumpet in the "Goin' Band from Raiderland" and was also Texas Tech's mascot, Raider Red, in the fall of 1991.
Charlie is an avid musician and has played guitar for over 30 years. Charlie is an active member of Crossroads Church in Decatur, Texas, where he plays guitar for the worship team. Most of all, he enjoys spending time with his wife Misti, and two children, Zack and Marlee.
J. Michael (Mike) Carrillo was born in Ennis, Texas and spent his first 15 years there. When he was a sophomore, his dad was transferred to Decatur, Texas. Since that time, Decatur has been considered Mike’s home.
After graduating from Decatur High School in 1987, Mike joined the United States Air Force. During his time in the Air Force, Mike married Martha Patterson in 1988. Very shortly after they married, Mike and Martha shipped off for Spangdahlem, Germany. While stationed in Germany, the Carrillos welcomed their beautiful daughter, Courtney, in 1990.
Mike finished his last year of Air Force duty at Laughlin AFB in Del Rio, Texas. Mike enjoyed fishing on Lake Amistad while stationed at Laughlin. Mike also spent some off time playing baseball in Acuna, Mexico.
After an honorable discharge, Mike and his family moved back to Wise County. Mike would attend and graduate Weatherford College and the University of North Texas where he would graduate from both with honors. Mike’s next stop would be Baylor Law School. After Baylor, Mike and his family moved back to Decatur where he has been practicing for the last 16 years.
Mike is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas and has completed mediation courses through Dispute Resolution Services.
